Enzyme Mask - the Gentlest Way to Make Your Skin GLOW!

Face masks are a great way to refresh your skin and give yourself a little TLC. We get a lot of questions here at Boho Beauty by Amy about our enzyme masks. Both of our masks are fan-faves, but they each have different goals and are suited to different skin types. Want to learn more? Keep reading to learn how our enzyme masks work and which mask is best for you!

What is an enzyme mask?

Let’s start with the basics – what even is an enzyme mask? Enzymes are molecules that create chemical reactions in our bodies. Our enzyme face masks utilise the power of strongly concentrated fruit enzymes to offer effective yet gentle exfoliation. Both of our face masks are loaded with natural antioxidants and skin-soothing ingredients to work well on even the most sensitive skin types. The result? Soft, healthy, glowing skin, with no harsh chemicals and no nasty filler ingredients.

Why do they come in powder form?

Remember what we said about chemical reactions? Because our products are 100% naturally derived, they need a little kick-start in order to work their magic. The enzymes in our masks are activated by water, so they’re at their most potent immediately after mixing.

As a bonus, it offers more of a luxurious, spa-like experience at home by mixing the mask yourself!

How do I use an enzyme mask?

Start with a freshly cleansed face. Grab a small bowl or cup and add one tablespoon of water. Then, add one heaped tablespoon of your enzyme mask powder. Mix it all together until it forms a smooth paste.

Using clean hands or a brush, apply the mask all over your face and neck. You might feel a slight tingling feeling – this is normal! The enzymes are reacting with your skin to draw out impurities, kill off bacteria and remove dead skin cells.

Grab a glass of wine and relax for 10-15 minutes before gently rinsing the mask off with warm (not hot!) water. You can use a gentle washcloth if you want, but remember not to scrub too hard.

Follow up with your regular skincare routine by applying serums, oils and moisturisers, as usual, to lock in all of the skin-loving benefits of your enzyme mask.

Remember, enzymes are powerful exfoliants. If you have dry or sensitive skin, you should only use an exfoliating enzyme mask once a week. If your skin is on the oilier side, you might benefit from using it two to three times, but definitely no more.

What is the difference between the two masks?

Revitalise Enzyme Exfoliating Mask is our signature pink clay enzyme mask. It features refreshing ingredients like lavender oil and pineapple powder to bring life to the skin. Lavender oil also has antiseptic properties that will help repair itchy, irritated skin. Soothing ingredients like colloidal oatmeal, rice powder and powdered coconut shell. This mask is for you if you have a normal, dry or mature skin type.

The Balancing Enzyme Exfoliating Mask is a green clay mask infused with tea tree to draw out impurities, kill off bacteria and restore your skin's balance. In addition, pineapple enzymes and organic rice powder help remove dead skin cells. This leaves your skin looking cleaner and clearer from the minute you wipe the face mask off. The balancing mask is most loved by beauties with oily, combination, problematic and sensitive skin.

What are the benefits of natural skincare?

All products at Boho Beauty by Amy, including our fabulous enzyme masks, are made with organic, natural ingredients. By avoiding harsh chemicals used in non-natural cosmetics, our products are much more gentle on the skin. Natural products are also more effective at treating your skin concerns because they don't use filler ingredients that clog pores and cause inflamed skin. The ingredients used in our natural skincare products are specifically chosen, and each ingredient has a purpose in its product.
